Process Groups are for people seeking the skills and emotional experience to create deeper, more fulfilling connection in their lives. Contrary to the destructive myth that we should figure ourselves out before we can be in relationship,” groups provide a potent and dynamic process in which individuals learn about themselves and others—in relationship.
Human nature is to learn about yourselves and others in relationship to others.
Group therapy can help you explore how self-defeating behaviors and beliefs limit you from achieving what you really want. Common group themes include vulnerability, constructive vs destructive aggression, and expressing needs and wants. Your work in the group will be unique, dynamic, and sometimes challenging—an opportunity to improve all aspects of your life including work, family, important others, and friends. How do we create healthful boundaries or navigate fears of dependency or abandonment?
What will happen to me in group therapy?
Experience relief that you are not alone in fear, anxiety, or depression
Explore how others respond to you and why
Work through self-limiting behaviors and patterns that are evoked “in the here and now”
Create new ways of responding to people and the world around you
What is Group like?
In your pre-group consultations we co-create a road map of your work in the group. The map may change over time, as do you.
Trusting the group and “stepping in” can feel risky and vulnerable and will be an important part of your work in the group
Be willing to experience and discuss feelings of discomfort—as you develop new ways of working with others using emotionally progressive communication
